Hello all, I'd like to share a wether very straight forward answer, or a rather dense to unpack one.
I just asked the I-Ching: "How beneficial would be for me to join the next course on family constellations? "

For context, probably you know, but family constellations is a form of work that works with hidden or unconscious dynamics and loyalties we learn in our family of origin (though not exclusively) with the aim to bring consciousness to them, and hopefully walk more freely in personal life. Which is.. my motivation for doing it.
Now, I am not that experienced on the I- Ching, but I think of all hexagrams, the 18 is one of the most packed with references to correction towards the past, and more explicitly to the ancestors. And yet, I haven't asked about the issues specifically coming from them, but IF it has merit for me to do this work, which is where lies my doubth.
I am cautious because not long ago I did one for the first time, and felt authentic, and precisely because of that I wouldn't want to trivialize by overdoing, or by doing it too soon, or any other form of seeking more without reflecting ( “three days before and after…”) Like when you asked the book to many questions without chewing well the first one. Also that relating hex 16... that sometimes could look more of fantasy than a real foundational work... is what I would like to avoid. I want to work this with authenticity, not by being out of touch with reality, which sometimes it can be a risk in some personal development workshops. When one is lost, is easy for some "magicians" to take advantage of.

The 2 line... asks about to be gentle in correcting, the 3 to correct not too harsh.. but yes do it anyway, the 4.... is not correcting and there is shame in not doing it, and then goes the 6 and overcame the whole hexagram transcending the situation.
It seems as if this hexagram shows different aspects to correct, but that was not exactly my question, and still...I have the impulse for keep doing this or other work, but is not something to take lightly… it can be hard and emotionally scary as well.

I am perplexed by the explicity of the references in this cast, What do you see?

Hi Lagartija

18 <> 16

It's going to be to be a restorative thing for you to undertake (18). It will bring a greater long term stability to you as it brings together and releases that which no longer serves you. Thus allowing you to engage with life with greater freedom (16).

18.2 - One benefit would be to cut ties and shine light on the twisted nurturing that has developed in you and your family constellation through your mother's lineage.

18.3 - Another benefit would be that you will face ways that show and highlight the sadness and sorrow that is trapped in you father's lineage.

18.4 - Another benefit will be be that you will see things that have been hidden to you before and that you have been unwittingly colluding with. This is perhaps about how you have been acting unconsciously in ways when you express you authority that are at best unhealthy and at worst harmful to you and others.

18.6 - This could culminate in you finding a new purpose, but only if you are prepared to rise above the 'corruption' that has inveigled it's way into your family constellation and lineage.

... of course, other interpretations are available for you to explore.

Good Luck

As an aside, I have engaged in a number of family constellation events, based in the work of Bert Hellinger, and they are truly powerful. Be sure that they are properly run, by qualified practitioners and there are sufficient qualified people attending to support all the attendees. This is not something to be entered into lightly especially if there are sparse resources available.

In my experience, there is not only release experienced on the day, but it can carry on, in one case, for a number of weeks after the event. Give yourself maybe 3 months between exposure to each piece of work and ideally enlist people who can actively support you in between should the need arise. Expect a bit of a bumpy ride as the renovating is underway.

In my experience, on a properly resourced event, the rewards outweigh any risks.
