Where do the answers come from?

Nancy wrote back to me after the last newsletter (thanks, Nancy!) and asked:

“I have a question for you–where do the answers to the questions come from: Is it G-D, something in the spiritual realm, etc. and how does this work? Is it the energy that is transmitted from the person asking the question or can someone/something ‘read our minds’?”

Short answer: I don’t know. How could I possibly know?

Longer answer: isn’t this question a little like asking, ‘Is it water, or a river?’ ?

In other words… I think we are capable of making all kinds of distinction between our minds, our energies, the spiritual realm, and God – and it’s not that these distinctions aren’t worth making, just that they’re more a marker of the degree or focus of our awareness than of any absolute reality.

Having said that, I think it’s natural to form some kind of idea of what we’re talking with when we consult. It’s not in our nature to hold a conversation without also holding a concept of the one we’re conversing with. In other words, Nancy’s question needs some attention – not because we can answer ‘what’s going on?’ but because we can have a shot, at least, at answering ‘what am I doing when I consult?’ (And that’s a good question to ask, to avoid the ‘slot machine for answers’ mentality.)

My own answer, for today – I feel like I’m talking with God, in his and her expression or aspect as Change – something that feels very much like talking to a father and mother. Oddly enough, the authors of the Dazhuan seem to have felt something similar – they said that Yi was present ‘not as a commander or guardian, but like the Nearing of father and mother.’

  1. That’s a great question and I wish it could be answered in some logical way (that wasn’t a request, Chris… 🙂 ) My shifting belief is that we tap, through the Yi, into a shared pool of wisdom; a pool that contains all that is, has been and will be, in all its variations. That we are able to exercise some free will in our destinies is not a case of “creating information” as we go but a continuous “lane shifting” in in a universe where all possible scenarios are contained. This is not to say we are predestined in any way since the “lane shifting” randomness contained in said universe is just too great, if not infinite. In my believe, we can think of the Yi as a cosmic GPS device that tell us where we are at a given moment and an indication of where to go from there to reach a given goal. Mind you, Chris’ theory that any hexagram applies to all situations and vice-versa is perhaps correct in this context but, as such, a Yi answer works as a catalyst for the comprehension of a situation and thus giving a directional clue.

Some other days, perhaps most, the romantic in me truly believes is talking to a live immortal with a sharp sense of humor. He/She is more tangible and immediate to my feelings this way.

  2. Hi everybody,
The pool of wisdom is the akashic records isn’t it? I am always amazed how detailed the answers come! See you everybody, cheers, Love.

  3. Hello Friends,
I believe from my past experiences that all knowledge and answers prevails in the Universe since it has been created, when a soul evolves through time and everytime the consciousness shifts to a higher dimension it automatically gets the means to tap into this vast source – it just flows and manifests through intuitive thought process or some materialistic source like books, article, a few spoken words – it may come in many forms. As and when the need arises – the answers are available. Sadly not all souls are able to tap this resource.
    May all souls be blesed.
