First, select ‘Yijing reading’ from the ‘entry type’ list, and enter your question to the Yijing in the ‘title’ field.
Now the right sidebar has a ‘create new cast’ tab, like this:
You can cast your reading inside the Resonance Journal (the algorithm reproduces the odds of the three coin method), or use ‘drag and drop lines’ or ‘select from list’ to enter a reading you’ve previously cast.
After you have cast your reading, its text will be displayed in the right-hand sidebar in the translation you last selected in the hexagram browser. You may want to copy and paste the translation text into your entry, so it will show up in any searches you make for this text in future.
You can also use the hexagram browser to look through the listed ‘hexagrams of context’ for your reading.
Drag and drop
It’s quickest to drag and drop the component trigrams of your primary hexagram onto the hexagram grid on the right:
Then if any lines are changing, pick up a changing line from the ‘drag lines’ box and drag and drop it into place:
(Or you can drag and drop line by line, changing and unchanging, if you prefer.)
Select from list
- Select the number of your primary hexagram from the dropdown list.
- Check the boxes to mark any changing lines.
- Click ‘save’.
After entering your hexagram and changing lines, click ‘save’. The program will save the cast, calculate the relating hexagram, and display the full cast with text in a new ‘Yijing cast’ tab.
Note you still need to click the ‘Save Entry’ button!
Three coin oracle
When you click ‘three coin oracle’, the left sidebar disappears to create space for the reading. Click the ‘throw coins’ button six times, once to cast each line, then ‘save cast’. The program will save the cast, calculate the relating hexagram, and display your reading with text in a new ‘Yijing cast’ tab.
