Continuing with 49.4:

Nine in the fourth place:

a) Remorse disappears. Men believe him.
Changing the form of government brings good fortune.

b) The good fortune in changing the form of government is due to the fact that one's
conviction meets with belief.

As a strong line in a yielding place, this line is harmoniously balanced. It is like in kind to the ruler of the hexagram and in alliance with him, hence it meets with belief. HERE THE TIME FOR CHANGE HAS COME. When the text speaks not only of revolution but also of change and alteration, it means that while revolution merely does away with the old, the idea of change points at the same time to the introduction of the new.

Perhaps it's something like
49.4 - Whatever has gone before forget it. Step out of the ego. Listen to yourself now.Trust yourself now. The choice is yours to follow your dreams.

hmmm...I don't think it's so much a case of "forget" what has gone before, but rather a sense that one now has a clearer understanding because there has been a fearless consideration of what has gone before -49.3- so now one can make bolder choices because they more fully understand the situation. So not "forget the past", but indeed, remember the past, understand it throughly, don't be scared by it, and now make fresh choices.

Hex 49.4>>63

The fourth place of the heart, soul, feelings and ideals which is a Yang line expresses and exhausts itself. As it does it moves toward being an open Yin place and changes the overall hexagram toward hex 63--The Morning After where each line place is proper, Yin spaces in the even line places, Yang lines in the odd numbered line places and the hexagram overall three sets of Yin over Yang line places stacked together to express that everything is actively moving to complete all action. The nuclear hexagram of 63 is 64--Eve and the overall action of the environment line pair (1-6) is Yin over Yang or bringing to final development. The potential of the eve before is becoming the reality of the Morning After.

Here the Revolution succeeds, implementing its new ideals to achieve its goals. It is not the overall command and organization (line 5) or the actual transition to the Next (line 6) only the fulfillment of the dreams and ideals which has now captured the imagination of the people and brought about the triumph of the Revolution. Of course, as Camus noted in The Rebel with this success comes the new government which by its needs to govern cuts itself off from the roots of renewal within the mass of the people as we shall see in the next two line places moving.

Hi Rosada
I agree with what you have said here. My "quick post" mode came in earlier and not enough time was spent on my post. By "forget it" I was trying to convey something akin to "don't be attached to it". Honour it and then let it go rather than ignore it or deny it. Which is very much what you have posted.

My ego told me to get the post done quickly as I had other things to do and I needed to get onto them rather than spend too long on Clarity. These are old tapes, that I frequently listen to, but were again played at too high a volume and ruled my decision. It looks like I wasn't quite able to step into the wisdom offered by 49.4.:)

Just need to say Mike that I was quite inspired by your take on 49.4, in fact I left it up on my computer screen to read it again thru the day. And I liked the 'quickness' of it......it is fitting. Because sometimes 'changing the govt' of one's perceptions or being can be a lightning like move, a blink of an eye. and everything changes.

49.3 may be painstaking choices/decisions but 49.4 could be a completely different feel, as in it doesnt matter what I was deliberating about in the past. I change right now and suddenly I Know, and I act from the knowingness.

It was very interesting to me also because I had a dream the other night nd the dream was so vivid and prnounced that I asked the Yi what it meant........and my reply was 49.4. I never remember this happening before, but I had the dream and then in my dream state, I said to myself "i must see that again" and I dreamed the dream over again like an 'instant replay.' Soooooo, maybe there was a little of 49.3 in there after all.

my dream was two chldren, like twins, standing at the edge of a pool. I was one of the children. There was a challenge of some kind decreed by a dark man with a mustache. The child to my left took the challenge and swam. She was successful. The challenege was met and it was a wonderful moment. I was watching but I was ecstatic and so was the child who swam and so was the dark man. He was so happy that he took us both and dunked us into the pool in glee and victory. and the water felt wonderful like a baptism, not cold or shocking. I was as happy for this twinfigure as if it were also me. and I noticed that her body, like mine, was trim and fit and so supple. She had been ready for this, I thought.

I share the dream in this thread because of how Yi interpreted the dream...49.4...and for me, it gives meaning to that line. sometimes there is a call to change or do something that seems unlikely ( challenge ) and it is decreed by some wise, older part of yourself. when you are standing at "the edge of a pool" deliberation can be inappropriate. "trust yourself now" makes immense sense. Confidence first, then in retrospect you may notice that, my gosh, I was fit for that challenge! But the moment of taking the challenge was a child's moment.. the older wiser self calls for the challenge but perhaps it is the child ( the fresh, spontaneous and ready part of the self) that takes the plunge. and the wiser self is ecstatic!

When I read this I had the visual of a fireman or firemen, summoned to a firey blase where people stood outside screaming for those still trapped inside. As the firemen readied themselves with their gear and hoses the people cheered and believed those inside would be saved.

I also saw a fireman imagining within the home an unconscious child behind a wall of smoke. I could feel a surge of courage flowing through him as he fearlessly fought and persisted against the flames, staying open to do whatever would be necessary and putting everything he's learned to complete his passion of saving lives.

Wow, way cool responses. When I posted my quiblings about 49.4 I felt I might be being a bit petty, but then I thought, no, this is really how I see it so I shouldn't be afraid to speak up. And then a bit later I had this feeing - this KNOWING - that Mike had been fine with that, and indeed even agreed and then I checked the computer and sure enough he had posted as much. And now to read others of us have had strong inner visions at this point: A total 49.5 happening!

Inspired......Wow!!! That makes me feel so humble.:bows:
Perhaps shooting from the hip was the "right now" thing to do. The response did come from a place of knowing at the time, I typed it out was going to edit it and then this action was "overruled". It's prompted some great posts here.
The linking of all this with your dream was a very vivid picture for me, it has striking similarities with a dream I had last night. Letting go of a secret from the past. Initially very reluctant to do anything but hide it away, but eventually sharing it with my " dark guy", stepping into a new place where I was playing with a room ful of children, doing new things feeling joy and happiness and realising that by being at home in this new environment, the new had released the old.

What a great connection to have had. Use your beliefs now to fearlessly shape your future. By shaping his future the fireman saves not only himself but the people around him, caught up in the blaze.

It's clear that all is coming together for a group 49 experience. The veil between the two worlds is indeed very thin now .:bag: I hope you guys are having as much fun with your 49 experience as I am with mine. Or should that be having as much fun with our 49 experience as I am.

I had a very long night, I couldn't sleep. Not that I had stress or was thinking much, I couldn't find my sleep.
And the things that I was thinking of were quit nice, all together there were a lot of new idea's that I thought about.
Maybe this is also a part of 49.4 the breakthrough of really new things, which come from the subconsious to the conscious. Because it all comes with dreams, visuals, quick thoughts and during nighttime. The reality of the night before became the reality of the morning after as Frank K wrote.

Water and fire are coming into contact, the only axis that is the same in the pre-heaven and post heaven situation. First there is the contact of water and fire when we are laying down(pre-heaven) then the contact of standing up(post-heaven).

For me this is a very powerfull moment to be aware of. I feel that the fire from the lower trigram is very fiercefull, maybe this are the firemen Janice wrote about. During the night I felt that I have to take care of the water, the outer part. When I don't do than the water will evaporate to quickly. Then the revolution is stopped because there is not enough power that will back it up.

It was interesting that Janice is writing about the firemen and Bamboo about the Water and the pool.
So with some there is this connection with the inner trigram as expression and others with the outer trigam as expression. Or is the expression the other way around when you look to the nucleur trigrams?

Amazing Frank.. I wrote my previous post at 3 a.m. this morning when I was awake unable to sleep...So is there anything we should "do" with this growing awareness of group consciousness?

I also wanted to underscore I too think there is something about what Mike and Bamboo caught here that there is something significant about timing and change happening in the twinkling of an eye here at 49.3/49.4. Not coming like a bolt of lightening, more like a feather that tips the scales so gently one can now see another way is possible. Like Obama's promoting Hope.

I have been getting insight into 49 by comparing it to its opposite, 4. The Fool. Interesting that in ravenstar's vision there was a fireman rescuing a child.

49.4 with it's trigrams of fire and lake changes to 63 whose trigrams are fire and water. Significant?

I note that the fan yao of 49.4 is 63.4, "The finest clothes turn to rags. Be careful all day long." Wilhelm says this line indicates the opposite of hope, doubt. I think how so far Obama's choices have met with resounding public approval so perhaps this line serves as a warning that one must not become overconfident. I think of the custom in ancient Rome of having someone walk along beside the new emperor as he was about to be crowned whose job it was to whisper in his ear that all was transitory.

hmmm...just noticed that Venus was conjuncting Jupiter in Capricorn last night - a beautiful omen for positive government.
This line up of planets will be visible in the sky tonight - it will appear like to large stars next to the moon.
I wonder if this awareness during the night is somehow symbolic of the Unconscious and The Feminine being empowered? Hilary Clinton being made Secretary of State and last night i saw an interview with Laura Bush where she talked about the plight of women in Muslim countries. I thought, whoa, if she had been more of a voice in the previous administration things might have worked out way differently. So anyway, it seems like we are going to be seeing more and more clearly how the Unconscious can be used to facilitate change.

Seems like this event fits with 49.5 and the talk of a visible understandable guideline, the moon ruling the public and the feminine and the planets of love and wisdom all in alignment.

I too found it interesting about Mike and Bamboo. I also love it when Frank gives us his expertise into the elements, it really helps to see how things fit and how we've all intuitively become aware of how the larger patterns emerge and take on spiritual and magical qualities.

To try and answer your question rosada

So is there anything we should "do" with this growing awareness of group consciousness?

I see the I Ching as openings and gateways and ladders which helps us to discover new realities of human potential. As we put more effort into the experience, including being present in the moment, old beliefs are being freed from stagnation and new ones put in their place.

Is there anything we should do? Well, I think we're already doing it. Being aware and working with the polarities of the universe is important. We can't ignore them, we can't wish them away but we can definitely become aware of them and make them work to our benefit rather than against us.

Looking at how far we've come with just Hex 48 and 49, and I've only been here a short while, I've learnt that waiting for something to happen without reading the patterns, definitely influences the outcome. It can take us on a rollercoaster of random events or like the oceans tide, to and fro. Who wants that?

Sensitivity, intuition, emotion, feelings, are all different words which describe our sixth sense. “Going within” is a marvelous tool, but we have now reached an exciting cycle of time which forces us to look at reality and to feel things about it that long ago we were told we had to control.

ravenstar

P.S. this definitely feeds into the next line about the great man changing into a tiger. A tiger's coat has such a beautiful mix of yin and yang colors. This is definitely an animal that possesses a great balance with these energies.

0 Nine in the fifth place means:
The great man changes like a tiger.
Even before he questions the oracle
He is believed.

A tigerskin, with its highly visible black stripes on a yellow
ground, shows its distinct pattern from afar. It is the same
with a revolution brought about by a great man: large, clear
guiding lines become visible, understandable to everyone.
Therefore he need not first consult the oracle, for he wins the spontaneous support of the people.

"The great man changes like a tiger": his marking is distinct.

This line is related to the six in the second place and therefore
has the clarity of Li at its disposal. The trigram Tui, in which
this is the central line, stands in the west, the place of the white
tiger. The season of the year corresponding with this trigram
is autumn, when animals change their coats.

"The great man changes like a tiger: his marking is distinct"

I read that in Chinese astrology it is believed the tigers head often carries the chinese "mark of wang," or king, on its forehead. Apparently this can be seen within the patterns of its fur. One vertical line with three horizontal ones passing through it.

If I knew a 'Tiger person, I think they would have the following attributes....

communicate equality
smile frequently (a real smile)
keep their shoulders straight and head held high, (not arrogantly though)
oozing with self confidence
passionate about what they do
Use their power and gifts to benefit themselves and others
Intensely loyal
A wonderfully integrated human being
Admired by many
imbued with a strong intuition and an uncanny sense of timing
instinctively knows when to start new projects and leaps with full force out into the world
loves adventure, challenge change
listens to the subtle vibrations of the soul
A perfect balance between passion, calm, pride and humility (integrity)
Abundance in all facets of life

ravenstar

Just thought of a few more....

assertive
feel confident enough to share their thoughts with others and allow others share theirs with him/her
firmly stand up for their opinions and feelings
respect others viewpoints
plan small steps towards their goals
see crises as opportunities to be seized or challenges to be met
know what they want
have the confidence in their goal setting
like trying new things
are not afriad to make a mistake
learn from past mistakes

Assertiveness (no anger) has many advantages...people listen! Second, being assertive builds our self-esteem, because we are validating our thoughts and feelings. And when we set goals and achieve them it's such a wonderful feeling!!!

I've seen many people with disabilities who don't let it get them down. Their outlook on life is invigorating, intoxicating and so empowering! In fact many say it's the best thing that ever happened to them. They were forced to choose between seeing it as an 'obstacle or a challenge. And overcoming that challenge took a lot of perseverance, planning and alot of integrity.

They slowly began building their internal self image by saying they were going to take action for the events in their life, not passively watch them unfold. The goals they laid out created a path and direction they aimed to travel. If they set a goal and didn't attain it, they would analyze that goal pattern. Change things here and there and try again! Many succeeded!! They accepted what could not be changed and worked on what they could change.

Tigers are known for their healing powers. They know how to find the balance between extremes, hence their beautiful coats of mixed patterns and colors.

Oh gawd, I'm on a roll

One other thing I've noticed people with 'tiger' energy, they live in gratitude....they aren't afraid of abundance. They're not afraid of intimacy and they're not afraid of the physical world. It's their attitude about life that brings wealth in their lives. They honor their creative gifts and do whatever needs to be done to the best of their ability joined with a huge slice of spiritual integrity.

Okay, I'm done :)

Tigers

The mythical white tiger is a very important animal in Chinese literature.
In the Can Tong Qi - The secret of everlasting life. Is one of my favourite books. Everything is explained with trigrams and hexagrams. The book is a translation of the ancientChines text about finding immortality.

some quotation from the Can Tong Qi.

" The yang Dragon finds his source in the Palace of Li (fire) and the yin Tiger is born on the position of Kan(water)".
The White Tiger stands in the west on the place of Metal. (dui-lake). it is the number 4.
Gold(metal) and water(1) together make 5. the Wu earth.
Then the White Tiger transforms in a Black Tiger. Then it is the Dui(lake) tiger.

then there is a chapter only about the white tiger and the Dragon.
" The crescent of the moon, the white tiger, the trigram Dui(lake) en the Po soul. They all belong to the west and represent the Other, or the pool of jade".

" The White Tiger is resting in the Pleiades, his number is seven.
There are autumn ears of wheat and Dui is in the west at the time of the undergoing sun."

I saw a tiger at the zoo. It was twice as big as I imagined tigers to be. So sad, bound in stripes of steel, causing lookers confusion with the stripes that are real. That has always been how tigers survive.

49.5 An Idea Whose Time Has Come.

Seems to me as if there is something significant int the way the last three postings evolved. First Ravenstar evoked The Superior Man in all of us. Then Frank gave us the "Group Cpnsciousness Co-ordinates" so we could all see him and then Meng started channeling about the plight of the Tiger. It just seems to me that we are being made aware that the next step to higher consciousness will require seeing and being conscious of the plight of the animals. Can we stand it?

Meanwhile, I look around tonight and I feel like I'm in the right place. I feel like we're all in the right place and we're all evolving together.

Rosada, as soon as you start seeing meaning in things like the way people's messages arrange themselves on the board, you're moving into 'oracle perception'. At times like that, you don't need the Yi; it's just a lifeboat in case of emergencies.

Hey Dobro - nice post;)
Rosada - Notice any similarities?
49.5 - Now you are listening to yourself and trusting yourself, you have just gotta believe. It is natural that you do.The beauty of what you see, the symmetry, the patterns is burning bright for you. The Yi by all her gentle promptings over the years has truly empowered you and you can stand alone. You are a survivor standing in the eye of the tiger.

Yep! We're a good group.

Anymore real life 49.5 stories to report before we move on? My Dad called yesterday and for the first time in 40 years has even been willing to discuss giving me his 1967 VW Bus. I don't think it will happen anytime soon - 49.6 only so much change is possible - but I loved the fact he's opened the talks now.

Rosada, just how old is your father? I thought you were well into your middle age years? Is he still driving the hippie's "Love Boat"? Is the stash found in the Gobi desert his?

I think that VW is his cauldron. Like in ancient dynasties, it will be passed to the new emperor: YOU...

The boat still floats but these days it just sits in the front yard and annoys the neighbors. Certainly he would like to believe he is about to take off on another adventure so thinking of The Rusty Bus as his Cauldron is right on. Dad is 90 and I really should get the old tiger to put his tales on paper. He was one of the first to travel around Africa setting up village schools back in the 60's. His ideas had something to do with starting the Peace Corps. But since those days he's kinda gone into hibernation. Thanks for asking about him.

Six at the top means:
The superior man changes like a panther.
The inferior man molts in the face.
Starting brings misfortune.
To remain persevering brings good fortune.

After the large and fundamental problems are settled, certain minor reforms, and elaborations of these, are necessary. These detailed reforms may be likened to the equally distinct but relatively small marks of the panther's coat. As a consequence, a change also takes place among the inferior people. In conformity with the new order, they likewise "molt." This molting, it is true, does not go very deep, but that is not to be expected. We must be satisfied with the attainable. If we should go too far and try to achieve too much, it would lead to unrest and misfortune. For the object of great revolution is the attainment of clarified, secure conditions ensuring a general stabilization on the basis of what is possible at the moment.

Talking of animals, I looked up Panther in a great book called Animal Speak, by Ted Andrews

He says......(I've written only parts of it......very long!)

"Black Panther, Leopard and Jaguar are very similar and share much of the same Medicine. I'll be combining them in this article and you will see why as it unfolds.

*Ted Andrews/Animal-Speak:
Keynote: Reclaiming One's True Power
Cycle of Power: Dark of the Moon--New Moon--Winter

All cats have binocular vision. Each eye can work singly, providing greater depth of vision, magnifying images, and facilitating judgment of distances. Thus anyone who aligns with the panther will begin to develop greater depth of vision--of their life, of events, or other people. This is more than just psychic sight. It is an inner knowing...

It is in the hours of darkness that panthers find its greatest element of power. This is even more true of those who have as a totem a black panther. The season in which their power is greatest is the winter. The lunar cycle most powerful is the dark of the moon through the new moon.....

Of all the panthers, probably the black panther has the greatest mysticism associated with it. It is the symbol of the feminine, the dark mother, the dark of the moon. It is the symbol for the life and power of the night. It is a symbol of the feminine energies manifest upon the earth. It is often a symbol of darkness, death, and rebirth from out of it. There still exists in humanity a primitive fear of the dark and of death. The black panther helps us to understand the dark and death and the inherent powers of them; and thus by acknowledging them, eliminate or fears and learn to use the powers...

In China there were five mythic cats, sometimes painted like tigers or leopards. The black reigns in the north with winter as its season of power, and water its most effective element. This is the element of the feminine. This is the totem of greater asertion of the feminine in all her aspects: child, virgin, seductress, mother, warrioress, seeress, old wise woman.

When the black panther enters your life as a totem, it awakens the inner passions. This can manifest in unbridled expressions of baser powers and instincts. It can also reflect an awakening of the kundalini, signaling a time of not just coming into one's own power. More so, the keynote of the black panther is Reclaiming One's True Power."
