Would the consequences be from calling E. asking for a job opportunity? Yi ansewered 3.5 > 24​

These days I have been thinking about searching for a new job opportunity because in my actual job the things are inestable for the moment. I asked E. many years ago for a job opportunity where he works but only said "you must study this", and he didn't add more details about. And my job was good at the time, so I didn't go harder about his offer.

Now that the situation had changed, I have wanted to know if this time the things would be different.

The first thing I noticed was "Don't use this to have a direction to go". In another thread I said that I was purposeless. So I imagine that the advise, it's that I mustn't think about this opportunity, if it would be any, as a giver of meaning. If I want to see a change I have to "warp and weft" throw this moments. It wouldn't be a magical change.

I already asked E about a possible vacant and he has given me three topic of study. One of the topics is one that I have been thinking to learn in many occasions but I didn't dedicate so much time to its study. I think that the warp and weft may be could be a reference to the study of this topic with patients.

Sorry, but I don't understand the connection between this and the 3.5 to 24 question to Yi. It sounds (to me) like you asked E about a vacancy and then asked Yi about asking him, but you already had asked him. Or was you asking E the years-ago part?

Anyway, I think 3.5 could mean don't ask E any more until you've studied what he told you to study. If the conversation with E was years ago, maybe it means just check that the things to study are still the same. If years have gone by something might have changed. But don't push it farther than that yet.

Sorry for the confusion.. I asked E many years ago about a vacancy. Yesterday I asked Yi and received 3.5 to 24. And after I received the answer I took the risk and I asked E again.

I was wondering why you wouldn't use the energy of sprouting to establish a direction and then I read line 5 which Hilary comments is about 'growing soft leaves, not solid trunks'

I would interpret that as a suggestion to turn in that direction to see what's there, like the leaves of a plant turning towards the sun. Your purpose.. the solid trunk of your path.. may benefit from the sunlight that person provides but ... the image I have is discovering your own internal sun, not an external source.

And the quote 'nothing grows well in the shade of a big tree comes to mind'. I have this quote in my mind linked with the split between Jung and Freud. For a while Freud was Jung's sun, and then Jung grew in his own direction.

He said that: «Well, generally we have vacancies if we find that the person has the knowledge. Have you studied about topic A or topic B and how are you with technical interviews? I recommend topic A because that the knowledge we use much here. You should spend time learning this topics . Now that I think, we need someone with knowledge in topic C: Are you good in topic C? Because one of our teams need someone good in this. You could learn about this and I would be able to ask about.

Sam 3.5 which saying that you will be misunderstood & 24.5 clearly saying of return back to your essence.

"You've got difficulty in the beginning, advice not to try for too much because advances may not be fully welcomed and the return.."


Line 24.5 saying that you are sincere & honest ,your position 24.5 which is kings place provide you self examination recommend to turn back towards your essential energy source that is line 24.1 , don't waste time & energy.

Another interpretation can be done in respect to both hexagram

The 'Sam' appears to be Sam Reifler, I have his book (1974). It isn't a good one. I say that only because his commentaries are quite unhelpful and at one time, pre internet, I was using his book and it led me in unhelpful directions. I say this because some commentary was full of despair, very final and sort of fatalistic. No doubt some of it is helpful and these days people at least have easy access to other resources.
