Here’s a very, very useful online tool you may not have known about: an I Ching search from eclecticenergies.com . You can search for any word in the Wilhelm/Baynes translation, and get a neat list back of all the hexagrams and lines in which it appears.
If you are trying to piece together a half-remembered reading with something about ‘scarlet sashes’, a quick search on ‘scarlet’ will reveal that you had 47, line 2 (and link directly to the text you were looking for).
If you’re studying horses in the Yijing, or ‘good fortune’, or ‘misfortune’, you can get a full listing of hexagrams and lines where they appear. The search doesn’t differentiate between whole words and parts of words, so you may get some false positives on short words like ‘ox’. But this is a minor blip in a very handy utility. (If you find it helpful, you may also be interested in the donations link to the left of the search page! 😉 )
You told me I had 47 line 2 , Where I can find It ? Thanks Jenny
Jenny, I think we have a language problem here. I didn’t tell you you had 47.2. I used that as an example.
