Yi blog riches

Two pieces of excellent news for ‘Yi people’:

Steve Marshall is updating his blog again at http://www.biroco.com/journal.htm. On April 2nd (scroll down!) he wrote about hexagram 25, line 2 – something I’ve been wondering and speculating on for years. It makes good, natural sense when you read as he does:

‘No-plough harvest. No-breaking-soil cultivation.’

In other words, you reap a harvest without having to plough, you cultivate a field without having to break the soil.

This is the same basic reading we already know from Stephen Karcher’s Total I Ching (though I don’t imagine this is Steve M’s source):

‘They don’t till the land, but have a harvest. They don’t clear the land, but have fields to plant.’

Steve M has a distinctive interpretation of it, though, which I like.

From Steve’s page I found a link to the other excellent news: Allan Lian, who used to post at the ICC, started his own blog here:

Once again I am reminded that the title of my own blog is rubbish in every sense of the word. But jumping through all the technical hoops required to change it just isn’t an option at the moment. Never mind. Happy reading!

  1. I think ‘Answers’ is a fine title. It captures what it’s all about in the end. And I’m sure to type in the correct URL from memory even when I’m at my job!
